| Miles Sound System SDK 7.2a |
To build an application that uses MSS, you must include the MSS SDK in the build process. There are four simple steps to do this:
1) Include MSS.H in your source files.
2) Link with the correct shared library. For Classic MacOS, use the Miles Shared Library file. For Carbon CFM (which will run on MacOS 8 through MacOS X), use the Miles Carbon Library file. For Carbon Mach-O PPC (which will only run on MacOS X), use the libMilesMachO.dylib file. And for Carbon Mach-O x86, use the libMilesMachOx86.dylib file. In CodeWarrior or Xcode, you usually just have to drop the file into your project).
3) Place the Miles Shared Library, the Miles Carbon Library, the libMilesMachO.dylib, or the libMilesMachOx86.dylib file in the folder containing your application executable. Note that Mach-O applications place the executables for an application package in a subfolder called "Contents/MacOS". Mach-O application packages are just a defined set of folders, so to open the Contents subfolder in Finder, Control-click on the application icon and choose "Show Package Contents". Then just place the libMilesMachO.dylib file into the "Contents/MacOS" folder.
4) Copy the other files in the :redist:classic, :redist:carbon, /redist/macho, or /redist/macx86 folders into a subfolder off your application's folder.
And that's it - you should now be able to call the Miles functions!
